Mild & Creamy Red Beans and Rice
You have probably heard of Red Beans and Rice as a traditional Monday night dinner in New Orleans. But the combination is so delicious, variations are also enjoyed around the world!
Our Mild and Creamy Red Beans and Rice is the ultimate comfort food. You may even start to think of it as the “macaroni and cheese of beans and rice”! That’s because it’s made with a combination of mashed and whole beans which gives a smooth, creamy texture that is very soothing. It gets creamier the more you stir.
We left out the spicy peppers (and meat and dairy of course!) so you can jazz it up as you like. Mildly seasoned with the savory “holy trinity” vegetables of onion, green bell pepper and celery, this is a favorite with kids and anyone trying to avoid hot spices. Yet it makes the perfect base for whatever goodies you want to add. Try: fried banana, avocado, grilled veggies, salsa, cheese, or a splash of vinegar.
